We all know about the wonderful tax benefits marijuana sales have brought to various states at an amazing rate. Revenue that has been produced for states with legalized marijuana has been astronomical and very useful for governments that have been working to dig out of a hole and balance their budgets without continuing to cut services. We’ve seen jurisdictions use this added and growing revenue stream for schools, dangerous and aging roads, every day maintenance operations and even provide services to homeless people giving them a boost when life may be tough.  And now, one company within the cannabis industry is lending a (green) hand by widened its reach of philanthropy. This company is offering a significant donation to help with flood relief in Louisiana.

Vape manufacturing company SOURCEvapes is donating 100% of its profits from now until September 5th to relief efforts for those that have been impacted by the deadly Louisiana floods. SOURCEvapes manufactures high-quality vaporizer equipment and sells it at their online store.  President of operations at SOURCEvapes, Robert Kayvon stressed the importance of the donation in a press release. “We really want to get the word out there so we can donate at least $50,000 to help combat the extreme devastation the floods in Louisiana have caused.”  And with Labor Day weekend typically a very busy weekend for SOURCEvapes, it is hoped that the $50,000 goal will be surpassed.

While your cannabis company may not be able to donate large sums of money like SOURCEvape intends to, it is important for your business to give back. Donating time or money to your community can help set your business apart from others while making a difference. That may seem a bit hypocritical – it’s not.

Providing service to your community helps people identify your business as a leader in the community. This is one way to elevate your cannabis business and set yourself apart from the crowded marketplace. The marijuana industry already prioritizes top-notch customer service, it only makes sense that community service would go hand-in-hand with your existing customer service plan. While giving back, you will not only help make the community a better place, but you will also gain respect from employees and community leaders. You will network and gain new contacts whether you intend to or not. And in any business, the more contacts you have in the community, the better.

Finally, with the marijuana industry still in its infantile stages, getting some good press every now and then would be great not just for your business, but for the industry as a whole. News channels seem to have regular stories focusing on the negatives of the marijuana industry while overlooking the positives. The marijuana movement is about much more than legalizing a substance. It’s about a better lifestyle, an open mind, and health and wellness. Stepping up as the leader of your marijuana business and working to improve the community will lead to a more positive statewide and national view of the marijuana movement. Your leadership could have a hand in strengthening your brand, your community, and the marijuana industry as whole. It just takes some initiative and the willingness to make a difference.

So find your cause (or causes) and lend a green hand to those in need.
